Serpentine is a general name for a group of metamorphic rocks that are translucent to opaque, waxy tough, fibrous and frequently occurring in veins.

Serpentine is often mistaken for Jade, as they are both similar in colour and texture. Serpentine’s colours run from translucent green to yellow green, yellow, pale green, grey green, dark green and mixed with brownish black or purple inclusions.

Serpentine is a magnesium, iron, silicate hydroxide. Serpentine occurs in the following locations: Russia, Switzerland, USA and Canada.
