Blue to Yellow Color Characteristics. We determined that Fe ions in beryl could lead to yellow and blue colors. Blue color has been attributed to Fe 2+ or Fe 2+ -Fe 3+ pairs, and yellow color to Fe 3+ (Wood and Nassau, 1968; Lin et al., 2013), though their accurate occupancy remains controversial.
